I started this painting during the pandemic when the Atelier was shut down. The original set up was at home, but then when the Atelier opened back up, I returned to my original curriculum and put this on the back burner. Only recently after the conclusion of my 3/4 length portrait, did I pull it back out to complete my paintings at The Atelier Studio Program of Fine Art. It was in the student show listed as "Work in Progress" but is now finished. I should mention that this is painted on a gesso-coated ACM panel. I really love the texture of the surface.
Also, as you know, I occasionally write poetry and sometimes write the thoughts and stories of inanimate objects. Lol.
"China Doll"
Like a pretty china doll
I sat perched on shelves Doing nothing more Than gathering dust Feeling empty and Waiting sadly For one generation To pass me to the next But I am much more Than an ornament For passing eyes So thank you Sir For filling me, using me And painting me finally As the vessel Of your artistry

"China Doll"
Like a pretty china doll
I sat perched on shelves
Doing nothing more
Than gathering dust
Feeling empty and
Waiting sadly
For one generation
To pass me to the next
But I am much more
Than an ornament
For passing eyes
So thank you Sir
For filling me, using me
And painting me finally
As the vessel
Of your artistry
